Ortofon 2M Black LVB 250 Premounted – this is how the modified flagship of the series comes with naked Shibata diamond, boron stylus carrier and Ortofon's Nano Tube suspension already pre-installed on 52mm overhang on the SH-4 Black headshell (correct Baerwald alignment for universal mounts). The SME connector allows direct mounting via bayonet catch on the S-shaped tone arm.
Before use – to avoid losses in sound quality, even pre-installed cartridges must be individually adjusted on the headshell, always according to the manufacturer's specifications of the turntable as well as the cartridge, and the tracking force must be set correctly.
2M Black LVB 250 – amazingly better than VERY GOOD
The 2M Black is an amazing cartridge and is considered by many to be the ultimate in moving magnets. So why would Ortofon try to develop something even better? Because perfection is simply in their blood. With a boron stylus carrier and Nano Tube suspension system, the LVB 250 is the improved version of the great 2M Black. The result is a sound as dynamic, precise and detailed as if the artists were playing right in their own living room.
The 2M Black LVB 250 uses a bare Shibata diamond on a boron stylus carrier, a combination already familiar from the highly acclaimed MC Cadenza Black cartridge. The use of the extremely stiff and lightweight boron stylus carrier provides remarkable transparency, speed and responsiveness.
The slim, highly polished profile of the Shibata diamond ensures a particularly wide contact area with the groove walls, enabling very detailed reproduction of the entire spectrum, including high-frequency groove information. The 2M Black LVB 250 features a special, improved motor with split pole pins and silver-plated copper wire.
The 2M Black LVB was released to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven's birth in December 2020.
The 2M Black LVB 250 Premounted is designed for easy cartridge mounting, so its weight and size fit most turntables on the market. In addition, the 2M series offers excellent compatibility with a wide range of different hi-fi chains.
Sound image – the LVB 250 impresses with even greater fine detail and transparency than the 2M Black.
